Although
I do love to use silicon molds on an occasion, I have learned that the best
soaps are made in wooded molds. I have ordered few here and there and for the
most part I liked them, but there was always something I wanted to add or
change in the design.
I
was also dealing with woodworkers and not soap makers and communicating the
exact size of the mold I wanted for various purposes (such as extra room needed
on top for elaborate designs) turned to communicate and understand.
Having
paid significant amounts of money for wooden molds I wasn’t entirely satisfied
with,
I
decided to use my woodworking workshop and create molds I liked.
I
always loved woodworking and my second passion after soap making turned out to
be more than useful.
The
molds come in all sizes desired. I designed skinny wooden molds (very popular
now) I have “regular” wooden molds – but always with extra room on the top, I made
soap planers, soap bevellers, and soap cutters of all sorts.
I
love all my “creations” as they are exactly what I wanted. They all come with
lids so covering them up and wrapping in blanket is a breeze and done without damaging
the soap’s top.
Many
fellow soap makers love them too. They are so wonderfully made that a local
soap supply was more than happy to start carrying them. If you live in Seattle
